Dear Andy and Hyner,

WARNING!
DO NOT TAP TO THE NEMA 3R PANEL AS SHOWN IN THE PICTURE. (WALL OUTSIDE GARAGE)  MAY I TALK WITH THE ELECTRICIAN.
CAUTION :  THERE SHOULD ONLY ONE SOURCE OF POWER FOR THE HOUSE.  EITHER NORMAL POWER OR THE GENSET.  IF THIS IS NOT FOLLOWED THEN THERE WILL BE AN ACCIDENT IN YOUR HOUSE.  YOUR ELECTRICIAN MUST KNOW THIS.
I AM CALLING YOUR CELLPHONE NOW.

Dear Andy and Gina,

Yes that picture  is the manual transfer switch.  With this Manual Transfer Switch you are assured that there is only one source of power in the house, either the normal power or the generator power.
Now please let the electrician check the continuity of the manual transfer switch to the Nema 3R panel as positioned outside the garage (shown in your photo with 60 ampere breaker.) and other standard checks like the ground, etc..  If there is a connection, then you may proceed with the connection of the generator to the said Nema 3R. .  Please also check your emergency  applied loads (lights, appliances) .  The loads must be lesser than the capacity of the generator.  Please also let the electrician check if the 60 ampere breaker is enough for the emergency applied load (in order of priority)
.I will call again.
Thank you..

Hi Jerry

Yes most of the selected circuits operate OK. Exceptions found so far are refrigerator in kitchen, front porch lights, garage roller door and lights, water heaters. I don’t understand why they work when powered by Iselco but not when powrred by the generator.

Hi Andy and Gina,

I can initially side with your observation.  There could be more explanation than simply saying they were not included in the emergency power.  A functioning convenience outlet and an extension wire will solve the refrigerator..  The water heaters (surface mounted) will need a minimum pressure to give you a heated water. Therefore it needs a pump.  Others, I will rely on the electrician’s findings.
Congratulations! even with these minor observations.
God bless.
Jerry

Thanks Jerry. We were delighted that so many circuits worked. As you suggested we have found workarounds for appliances on dead outlets.

Cheers
